LETTERS FROM CANADIAN PAIN SOCIETY

In October, the National ME/FM Action Network wrote to the Canadian Pain Society (CPS) expressing concern about the 2012 Canadian Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Fibromyalgia Sydrome. These Guidelines were developed at the request of the CPS and have been endorsed by the CPS. The Network asked for the opportunity to discuss our concerns before the document was implemented any further.

We have now received a reply from the President of the Canadian Pain Society, Dr. Judy Watt-Watson.  The letter defends the Guidelines as they currently exist.   [click here]

In her letter, she refers to a letter from Dr. Mary-Ann Fitzcharles who was Chair of the committee that developed the guidelines [click here].

We are very disappointed that the Canadian Pain Society did not offer to open discussions with us. We still believe that the guidelines should be reopened now, rather than waiting until the scheduled update of 2015.  We will continue to ask for this to happen.
