What we do
The network works hard to raise issues regarding ME/CFS and FM with federal government officials and politicians. Through direct contact with government administrators, we continue to advocate for better awareness, education, health care, disability support and equitable research funding.
Through our website we offer educational resources for patients, the medical community and educators. We offer documents online and in print containing information on ME/CFS and FM, best medical practices, assistance for disability applications and a guide to educating young people with ME/CFS and FM.
We offer assistance to provincial and local organizations by providing materials and advice and promoting their efforts through our newsletters.
The Network works cooperatively with the international patient community, keeping abreast of developments, sharing insights and presenting a unified voice. Representatives from the Network attend the International Association for CFS/ME (IACFS/ME) biennial conferences. The network hosted the conference in Ottawa in 2011 and our president, Margaret Parlor, presented at the conference in San Francisco in 2014.
We help educate young medical students about ME/CFS and FM through the Alison Bested Scholarship Fund.
We offer assistance to doctors, researchers and legal professionals. We have a fund to help with small research projects through micro grants.
We encourage patients, friends, family and the general public to become part of our membership. Our members include doctors, lawyers and researchers. Members receive, by email, news updates of our activities and developments nationally and internationally. They also receive our quarterly newsletter Quest with informative articles on issues related to ME/CFS and FM. We encourage members to support our efforts by writing their elected representatives and educating their peers.
May 12th is the international awareness day for ME/CFS, FM and MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity). We support anyone planning an event on May 12th by supplying materials and promoting the event through our newsletter.
We maintain a presence on social media through our website, Facebook and Twitter.
All of this cannot be done without financial cost, Please support our efforts by becoming a members or making a donation.
