News - NETWORK NEWS
We are absolutely delighted to announce that the National ME/FM Action Network will be co-hosting a breakfast for Members of Parliament and Senators to recognize Awareness Day. Our co-host is Dr Hedy Fry, the Member of Parliament for Vancouver Centre who is a long-time supporter of the ME/FM community.
The breakfast will take place on Thursday, May 19 from 7:30 am to 8:30 am. Dr Gordon Broderick, Lisa Schneiderman and I will be giving presentations. Several more members of the ME/FM community, including Dr Bested, will be in attendance. This is a golden opportunity for Parliamentarians to meet members of the community, learn about ME/CFS and FM, and get breakfast at the same time. The invitation was sent to MP's and Senators from Dr Fry's office on Tuesday, April 12.
Parliamentarians receive many invitations and may not notice ours. You can help by contacting your MP and encouraging him/her to attend. We have drafted an email that you can use or adapt - feel free to add a personal touch. You can find your MP's contact information at parl.gc.ca.
If you can, also send the email to Senators from your home province. (Change or drop the first paragraph.) Their contact information can be found on the same page.
[A note for people with francophone representatives...Dr Broderick is fluent in French and my French is passable.]
Thank you!

Subject: Parliamentary Breakfast – May 19, 2016.
Dear xxxxx
Congratulations on your recent election as a Member of Parliament. This is a very important job.
You have recently received an invitation from Dr Hedy Fry to attend a Parliamentary Breakfast focusing on Myalgic Encephalomyelits/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. It will be held on Thursday May 19, 7:30 am in the Parliamentary Dining Room.
The meeting will give you important insights into these under-served health conditions that affect over 800,000 Canadians – an average of over 2,000 people per federal riding. I am one of the people affected by these illnesses. It would mean a great deal to me if you or one of your staff members could attend the event and learn more about these serious medical conditions.
